Program Assistant

The Center for Career Development (CCD) strives to provide students with resources to prepare for successful entry into meaningful employment and/or continuing education as graduates of Bridgewater College. POSITION DESCRIPTION

This 10-hour/week position will support the Career Center’s overall operations with an emphasis in student outreach, event planning, and communications. CCD Program Assistants will assist with the planning and implementation of workshops and events (such as Career Fairs and networking events) and will be asked to interact with BC students, alumni, and employer partners on a regular basis. In addition, Program Assistants will develop content for the Career Connections monthly newsletter, create copy and graphics for social media efforts and print advertising, the Career Center WordPress blog, and other outreach efforts. Other duties may be assigned when needed. The ideal candidate for CCD Program Assistant will have a professional demeanor, flexible mindset, an aptitude for communications (written, verbal, and visual), and an interest in promoting career development to BC stakeholders.

MAIN JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist with planning, advertising, and implementation of CCD programs and events.
  • Execute student outreach programming, including: resume reviews, workshop facilitation, tabling, and presenting career development content to student orgs and classes.
  • Assist with administrative duties on the Handshake recruiting and career resource platform (i.e.: vetting potential employer connections, data collection and reporting).
  • Deliver student, alumni, and employer success stories via social media, video, blog content, or newsletter.
  • Assist with social media engagement and content creation designed around the CCD events calendar. Develop, organize, and post content using Canva and Constant Contact; schedule content using Buffer.
  • Research career topics, promote services and successes of Career Center via monthly Career Connections newsletter, career center blog, and social media platforms.
  • Identify marketing and engagement opportunities within the Bridgewater College community and help with implementation of these ideas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to work 10 hours per week.
  • Must work well both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and adhere to BC brand identity standards in both print and digital materials.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Functional knowledge of Canva, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn (preferred but not required). Must have a willingness to learn these platforms if not already proficient in their use.
  • Major/Minor or Concentration in Professional Writing, Communications, or Marketing (preferred but not required). Must have a willingness to learn about these topics if not familiar with them from your academic major.
