Student Photographer and Visual Media Assistant

The Office of Marketing & Communications (OMC) is seeking a creative and dependable student to serve as a Student Photographer and Visual Media Assistant. In this role, you'll capture high-quality images that showcase the Bridgewater College experience for use in marketing, social media, publications and the College website. If you enjoy photography, have an eye for visual storytelling and love being involved on campus, we'd love to hear from you. This flexible student employment opportunity allows you to build your portfolio while working around your academic schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Capture authentic images of campus events, student life, traditions and the Bridgewater College community.
  • Capture B-roll video to support social media and marketing projects. 
  • Assist with photo and video shoots alongside the OMC staff. 
  • Edit, organize and archive photos. 
  • Help maintain Bridgewater College's digital photo library. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to identify visual storytelling opportunities. 
  • Attend select evening and weekend events. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Current Bridgewater College student in good academic standing.
  • Interest in photography and visual storytelling.
  • Strong attention to detail and composition.
  • Reliable, organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable interacting with students, faculty and campus guests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic photo editing experience using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or similar software.
  • Ability to work independently while following creative direction.
  • Photography coursework or related experience is a plus but not required.
  • Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.

Equipment Requirements

  • Applicants must have access to a DSLR or mirrorless camera and basic photography equipment suitable for capturing campus events and student life, as the OMC does not provide photography equipment for this position.
  • OMC will provide additional creative resources, such as microphones and props, as needed.

Hours

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week with a flexible schedule built around your class commitments.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required to cover campus events.
  • Starting pay: $12.00/hour

Training Provided

Student Photographers will receive training on:

  • Bridgewater College brand standards
  • Event and portrait photography
  • Basic videography and B-roll techniques
  • File organization and image management
  • Copyright and photo release guidelines
  • Photo editing workflow
