Post Doctorate RA - Materials Data Scientist

The atom probe tomography (APT) group is seeking a post-doctoral candidate with a PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related discipline to contribute to research and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for automated structure defect and/or phase determination in a wide variety of materials systems spanning structural, energy, and biological materials. Candidates with experience in other aspects of data-driven materials science will also be considered. The position will be focused on supporting and directing ongoing efforts in the development of modern data science techniques applied to atom probe tomography 3-D point cloud composition distributions designed to reduce the time required to connect structure/properties relationships and/or treatments for enhanced performance.

Staff at PNNL employ diverse methods to confront significant problems of national interest. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic with a mindset for continuous improvement. The abilities to multitask and to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. A demonstrated ability to analyze data and publish results is required.
